The Sud-Ouest is made up of six neighborhoods: Côte-Saint-Paul, Griffintown, Little Burgundy, Pointe-Saint-Charles, Saint-Henri and Ville-Émard.
At a time when Montreal is drastically lacking in independent cinemas, there is currently no venue dedicated to independent cinema in the Sud-Ouest. The Théâtre Colas will provide a multifunctional venue for all art forms, as well as a place for creation and co-creation that will be accessible to all communities.
The Fabienne Colas Foundation will be working with governments, the general public, communities and the business community, all of whom have already shown great interest in supporting the project.
The Théâtre Colas will diversify the cultural offering in the metropolis, providing greater access to culture for people from the Sud-Ouest and elsewhere in Montreal; an exceptional showcase for under-represented artists; and a socio-economic impact for the district and the metropolis in general.
THE ATTRACTIONS OF THE SOUTHWEST
“With icons such as the Atwater Market and the Lachine Canal, the Sud-Ouest borough is distinguished by its rich history and heritage, as well as its current effervescence.
Located close to downtown, it boasts charming neighborhoods where parks and green spaces rub shoulders with a variety of shops and restaurants.
Our residents play an active role in the social, cultural and economic development of their community. Thanks to this citizen involvement, the Sud-Ouest is a great place to live, work and play. ” (City of Montreal)
